Interactive Brokers Launches Ethereum Staking via ZeroHash, Offers 70% Reward Share

Key Summary

Interactive Brokers has launched Ethereum staking for eligible US clients through its partnership with ZeroHash, offering a 70% minimum reward share. The staking service allows clients to earn rewards on their staked ETH without holding ownership of the token. This move is consistent with increased institutional interest in yield-generating crypto assets and may boost confidence in Ethereum's potential to reach higher valuations by the end of 2026.

How the Staking Service Works

On the IBKR side, clients get a Staking Dashboard built into the Client Portal. From there, they can submit requests to stake or unstake their Ethereum and keep tabs on their staking activity. Rewards arrive as additional staked Ethereum rather than cash. That design means rewards can compound over time, since newly credited ETH is itself already staked and earning. Eligible clients keep at least 70% of the staking rewards. The remainder goes to the parties running the service.

Who Does What Behind the Curtain

The operational split matters here. ZeroHash powers the actual staking service, while Interactive Brokers handles the client-facing integration and customer support.

What This Means for Investors and the Market

The 70% minimum reward share is a floor, not a guarantee of a specific return, and rewards are paid in ETH, so their value moves with the token's price. Because IBKR is neither validator nor custodian, clients are relying on ZeroHash for the core staking operations, and the separate ZeroHash account is where ownership actually sits.

Geographic Limits and the Road Ahead

Not everyone in the US gets access on day one. Residents of California, Maryland, New Jersey, and Wisconsin are excluded from the initial rollout. The service builds on groundwork laid earlier in the year. ZeroHash launched its Staking-as-a-Service offering on June 25, 2026, and Interactive Brokers was recognized as one of the initial partners for that product.

The brokerage already offers trading access to approximately 20 tokens through integrated partnerships with ZeroHash and Paxos, plus options for funding and withdrawing with stablecoins.
